Taigh Tulla, Loch Tulla

Taigh Tulla, Loch Tulla

A family home with a mixture of traditional and contemporary features nestled within a woodland clearing

Nestled within a woodland clearing this home is designed as a modern interpretation of a traditional Scottish villa. The site is only a short distance from Loch Tulla, with breathtaking views over the Loch and surrounding landscape.

The plan of the house takes on a simple concept: public areas to one side, private sleeping accommodation to the other with a functional entrance area between. This separation enables a clear design approach to be implemented. The public area is a single storey building with a contemporary zinc standing seam finish. The private area is a storey and a half building with a traditional appearance and finished with natural stone cladding and smooth white render. The rounded turrets provide space for stairs and with carefully placed slot windows allow glimpses to outside. Large areas of glazing provide naturally lit spaces and views over the Loch.
